Pines course \u8212? the course at Pompano Beach Golf Club that is Andy Hayes's favorite layout. He knows every hole intimately. Opening hole (hole 1) is a 412-yard par four with a slight dogleg right; the fairway narrows toward the corner. Played from the back (black) tees it is a genuine driving test; the white tees present a shorter, more forgiving version of the same hole. The first green is gently undulating, sloped back-left to front-right with a couple of benign tiers.\par
